Yoga Chicago is a magazine to provide readers "a free resource to yoga activities in the Chicago area".
September/October 2016 issue features Lori Gaspar, founder/director of Prairie Yoga (Lisle, IL) in their "Teacher "Profile" section. Also there is a "Yoga Pose" section where Lori wrote an article on a pose "Ardha Chandrasana (half moon pose)".
In March/April 2017 issue, there is a spotlight on Prairie Yoga's 10 year anniversary since they started their teacher training program.
Laury Hartman went through a stem cell transplant in 2014, and this book "Through it all, Love" is an inspirational journal which her husband, Dan, wrote to share their journey with family and friends. The book is available at Amazon.com. http://goo.gl/GU5d9u
The cover design is by my friend, Motomi Naito.
I was asked to take an author photo of Dan. Before the shoot, we talked about also having a picture of Dan and Laury together, and possibly using it somewhere inside the book, or as an author photo instead of a picture of Dan by himself. Well,,,, a huge, happy surprise! The picture of them together landed on the cover!
We did the shoot at Dan and Laury's lovely, sun-filled house, and the cute kitty was hanging around with us during the shoot. I couldn't finished the shoot without taking a picture of this cutie!
Prairie Yoga specializes yoga teacher training and workshops by both master teachers and local teachers. They also offer variety of weekly classes. I created the images to look light and bright to match their sunny yellow logo and visual branding. I also hope that images evoke the serene and relaxed mood of yoga practice.
Images are used for their website, e-news letters, printed ads for publications, flyers and display banners.
I first joined Histio Heroes 5K in 2012 as a second shooter/videographer. Since 2013, I have been taking pictures of entire event as a main photographer. Each year, I create nearly 1000 images to document the excitement of the race. This is a small sample from 2014 race.
Images are posted as an online gallery by race staff for participants and volunteer staff. Some selected images are also used on their website.

Prairie Yoga asked me to take pictures to update their teacher training manual. We scheduled three separate sessions (about two hours each), and created nearly 300 images. Because they have wallrope system on all the walls in their studio, I cleaned the background using Photoshop in post production to make the pictures as clean as possible. This also made each pose easy to see when it is viewed on the printed manual.
Tricia is a yoga teacher who teaches weekly classes, workshops, and teacher training courses at various locations throughout western suburbs of Chicago.
We created these images to simulate a private yoga session, and the pictures are displayed on her website.
I started going to Prana Yoga Center as a student/client when the studio was first opened more than 10 years ago. After a few years, I became certified to teach, and I taught classes there for nearly a decade. I came to know so many wonderful people in the yoga community, and I am very happy to still visit the studio as a photographer.
I really like their web designer decided to convert some of the images to black and white. I think the monochrome images look very stylish with their branding color of soothing green.
Choose Positive Dog Training is a California based dog training service. I am so excited the owner/trainer Alice Tong picked a picture of one of my dogs for her home page. The warm color of late afternoon light in the picture compliments her stylish logo perfectly.
Alice is not only a superb dog trainer, she is a very talented website designer as well. Her web design clients include other dog trainers. I love her clean and fresh web design!

Pinecone Cottage Tea House and Catering is a farm-to-table restaurant serving afternoon tea. Menu changes monthly, and ingredients are often from owners' own garden. I enjoyed creating rustic images from their garden as well as elegant images from their restaurant.
Images are used for their printed tea menu, and their social media site.
